About Us ~ Created During Recovery. Worn Every Day.

Spindle Bands began in 2019 after unexpected downtime to recover from a concussion.
After catching a falling box fan with my temple, I was told to do two things:
Rest my body. Rest my mind.
The first part was manageable; the second part - nearly impossible.
Needing something creative to focus on during recovery, I began making memory wire bracelets. At first, they were simply beautiful pieces of jewelry that gave my hands something constructive to do while I healed. I wore them constantly and only started selling them at fairs because I was repeatedly informed that I could not keep ALL of them.
Over time, I noticed something interesting.
I found myself absentmindedly spinning the beads, sliding them back and forth, wrapping and unwrapping the bracelets, and reaching for them the same way other people reach for a pen, a paper clip (also me), or a favorite ring.
What started as jewelry had quietly become a fidget.
Not because I set out to create one, but because I couldn't stop using it that way myself.
As I began selling bracelets at vendor fairs and events, I would often mention how I used them and ....how I often had to reshape a bracelet after stretching it from my own constant use.
Again and again, people responded with their own stories.
Teachers. Students. Therapists. Caregivers. Busy professionals. Parents.
People who, like me, simply needed their hands to do something while their minds were busy elsewhere.
That's when I realized I wasn't the only one.
Today, every Spindle Band is still handcrafted using memory wire and a wide variety of materials, including glass, resin, acrylic, crystal, wood, polymer clay, and specialty beads.
Some beads spin.
Some slide.
Some offer texture.
Each design creates its own unique sensory experience.
But they all share one thing in common:
They were created to be beautiful first.
The functionality simply came along for the ride.
Because beautiful things can do more than look pretty.
